Otodus obliquus Fossil Shark Tooth
Eocene Period
Approx 50 Million Years old
Khouribga, Morocco
This ancient shark was the ancestor of the Megalodon. The Otodus obliquus grew from 9-12 meters in length (most Great White sharks grow to 4-6m) and was among the top predators of its time. The name Otodus comes from the Ancient Greek word for 'ear' and describes the distinctive tooth shape.
