Additional Information
Plesiosaur Tooth sp. Zarafasaura oceanis
Upper Cretaceous 70.6-66 million years old Khourigba, Morocco
Zarafasaura comes from the Arabic words meaning 'giraffe lizard' for obvious reasons, and the first near complete skeleton was discovered in Morocco in 2013.
This species is thought to grow to 7 meters long. Plesiosaurs were apex predators, efficiently designed to fly through the water. Soft tissue finds suggest that they had smooth, wrinkled skin.
