Faden Quartz -
A usually tabular quartz with a white thread like structure running through the center of the quartz. These forms within an opening vein in the host rock and as the gap expands the quartz is repeatedly fractured and healed. As the quartz heals it traps fluid and gasses in the center of the crystal, resulting in the white threads and distinctive shape.
