This is a large chunky tooth. There is slight repair to this tooth. 69mm slant length and 53mm wide!! Most Otodus teeth have some repair and this is considered normal, as they are dificult to remove from the host rock without damage. These are the ancestors of the Megalodon.

This ancient shark was the ancestor of the Megalodon. The Otodus obliquus grew from 9-12 meters in length (most Great White sharks grow to 4-6m) and was among the top predators of its time. The name Otodus comes from the Ancient Greek word for 'ear' and describes the distinctive tooth shape.
